NOTE
The subject of the present portfolio reflects Kuznetsov's fascination with Samarkand, Bukhara and the culture of Uzbekistan. Kuznetsov was a founding member of the Blue Rose group in 1907. The artist experienced extensive popularity from the beginning of his career through exhibitions at the Paris Salon d'Automne in 1906, Venok (The Wreath) in 1907-1908, the Union of Russian Artists in 1907 and the Zalotoe Runo (Golden Fleece), in 1908-1910, and with the World of Art group in 1911-1916.
