COMMENCING ON TUESDAY, THE SIXTH DAY OF DECEMBER, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-SIX. Philadelphia: Zachariah Poulson, Junior, 1796 [i.e., 1797]. Folio, bound in modern paper over boards with printed paper spine label, boards with some bending. 319pp. Title with tanning, a couple of instances of early ink inscriptions (including to title), marginal tape repairs to last 10 leaves (without loss of text.) Generously margined, Very Good. ************************************** First edition, rather scarce. The Session closed on August 29, 1797. The Journal contains many references to the emerging interstate and international commerce of this State, and threats to its prosperity from the European war. Governor Mifflin's Messages to the legislature are printed, as is President Washington's expression of thanks for the Assembly's Resolutions of appreciation. A variety of subjects [including sale of the President's House in Philadelphia, regulation of elections, probate and intestate succession, the yellow fever, and the militia], votes, and proceedings is recorded in detail.
