Lot 1248: PERM RAILROAD IN THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST

Brussels, BelgiumLive Auction
Description: 1932 YEKATERINBURG. First Premium Bond. black. No 7546. Folds, a few edge-splits and small piece of paper missing of top border (hardly touching the printed part of the certificate). Portrait of Stalin and vignettes of a train station and industry. Unusual design. The bond is not expressed in roubles but inownership values. In the years following the Communist Revolution, approx. 150,000 people lost their lives (until 1930) in train accidents. Hence, a quote of Stalin on the bond states that it is our task to master the technic ourselves so that we can completely fulfill our plans. Sverdlovsk was from 1924 to 1991 the name of Yekaterinburg. Not seen before by us.
