Description: 24 Sept. 1910 PARIS. Action Privilégiée de F500. blue, buff. #6000. No 2997. Fine large design by FRAIPONT, showing the Rio port installations, shipping, lighthouse and various marine themes. The company was formed in 1910 to improve and operate the port for the Brazilian government. From 1913 the actual operations of the port was passed to a subsidiary of the Brazil Railway. Most of the major Latin American ports were built and operated by French interests. Ports were something of a French specialisation, as the British built the railways and the Belgians built the tramways. Printed by Chaix. This piece is extremely rare, unlike the red 'action de capital' of which several thousands have been discovered some years ago in Paris.
