Description: PORTRAIT OF EDGAR EUGENE RAND (AMERICAN SCHOOL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY).
Oil on canvas, signed and dated "Strauss 30" lower right. Half-length portrait of a distinguished man wearing a maroon tie with a pearl pin. 30.5"h. 25"w., period frame 37"h. 32"w.

Note: Born into a prominent St. Louis family, the sitter followed his father serving as President of the International Shoe Company in St. Louis, Missouri from 1950-1955. Also a member of the Board of Trustees of Barnes Hospital, now Barnes-Jewish Hospital now affiliated with Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.
