Horst P. Horst is considered to be a major pioneer in classic fashion photography. He started his career in 1931 at the French Vogue in Paris and then began to take pictures also for the American Vogue. His photographs are characterized by a pure aesthetic, classic beauty and perfect lighting. Horst's photographs influenced the style of many photographers and his princilples improved the standards in fashion photography.
Horst P. Horst gilt als einer der Urväter der klassischen Modefotografie. Er hatte seine Karriere 1931 in Paris bei der französischen Vogue begonnen und fotografierte ab 1935 auch Celebrities für die amerikanische Vogue. Seine Fotografien sind geprägt von einer reduzierten Ästhetik, in der es um ausgewogene Komposition, klassische Schönheit und perfekte Lichtinszenierung geht. Horsts Fotografien waren stilbildend und seine Grundlagen perfektionierten die Modefotografie.
