Description: Early 19th century AD. A group of coins, some lose, some fused, including some good stacks, along with traces of wood and cloth adhering to the coins. 800 grams total, 55.17mm largest stack (2 1/4"). From an important London collection, acquired in the 1980s. The Admiral Gardner was wrecked in January 1809, with its cargo, a large number of East India Company X and XX copper cash coins, belonging to Matthew Boulton. The wreck was found in 1984 and some coins were salvaged in 1985 during a licensed dive. [86, No Reserve]
