Description: 17th-18th century AD. A carved wooden figurine of a bishop in full robes standing with his crozier in his left hand; floor-length pleated robe with pectoral cross, capelet with scrolled foliage detailing to the border and closure at the chest, cope with scrolled border and fringe, mitre with banded border and lozenge motifs, tags to the rear; possibly French workmanship; mounted on a custom-made stand. 1.4 kg, 37.5cm (14 3/4"). Property of a Sussex gentleman; acquired before 1990.

Condition Report: Fine condition; lower body and right hand absent, some woodworm.
