Description: 17th-18th century AD. A tubular gold mount or ferrule formed as a beast-head with raised edges to the mouth and eyes, teeth to the inner edges of the mouth, thick raised ears, incised fur texture; the eyes each an inset cabochon garnet in a raised lentoid cell. 19 grams, 23cm (1"). Property of a German lady living in London; acquired London, UK, in the early 1990s. The stones were examined in detail by Dr. Bonewitz who observed: 'The garnets appear to be Bohemian, a source of high-quality garnet during the period.'

Condition Report: Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
