A D-section gold hoop with scrolled tendrils to the shoulders, discoid bezel with crystal panel and lock of hair, border of table-cut amethyst cloisons; inscribed to the underside in copperplate script 'Jas. Lugar Ob. 3 Dec 1772 ?.28'. 3.49 grams, 22mm overall, 18.14mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 7 3/4, Europe 17.0, Japan 16) (1"). Property of a Suffolk gentleman; acquired before 2000.
