Description: Dated 21st March 1801. A flat-section gold hoop with beaded edges and corrugated profile, band of reserved text to the middle 'Ann Chapman Ob 21 MAR 1801 ?T 56 and hallmarked to the inner face with a portrait bust, a lion passant, 'E' within a cartouche (for 1800) and maker's mark 'MG'. 4.61 grams, 21mm overall, 19.61mm internal diameter (approximate size British T, USA 9 1/2, Europe 21.26, Japan 20) (3/4"). Ex Daniel collection. The maker's mark 'MG' is recorded by Jackson, Sir C.J. English Goldsmiths and Their Marks, London, 1921, p.486 but unascribed to any known maker.
