Description: Chinese grisaille figure painting of a lady with calligraphy mounted on grayish silk. The grisaille painting depicting of a young lady standing relaxing, dressed in a traditional robe, with right hand raised unto shoulder level holding a scroll, with left hand holding the draped silhouette silk belt gently terminating from the waist. Shows titled calligraphy inscriptions on upper right. Inscribed and signed by Pu Ru, with three seals of the artist.

Notes: LOT NOTES: Pu Ru (1896-1963), courtesy name Xinyu, was a native of Beijing, and a member of the Manchu imperial family, born near the end of the Qing Dynasty. He was cousin to the last emperor Pu Yi and was one of the children who presented themselves at the palace as candidates for the future emperor. Pu Ru was reputed to be as talented as the famous southern artist Zhang Daqian. Together, they became known as "Pu of the North and Zhang of the South."
