Rare ancient Egyptian faience aryballos perfume / cosmetic pot in the form of a hedgehog with finely hatched spines, detailed face with green, cream and brown glaze on shaped plinth - circa 6th - 5th century BC, 7cm long, 4cm wide, 5cm high Provenance: Acquired by the vendor's grandfather - Captain George Fenwick-Owen in Egypt whilst recovering in Alexandria after the First World War. He was a well known big game hunter and explorer and boasted a large collection of artifacts, many of which were displayed at the British Museum and Natural History Museum - sold with letter of provenance Large chip to collar of neck, minor chips to fringe above face and to foot rim - overall good condition
