Description: Rare, General George Armstrong Custer's personal racing saddle, c. 1870, presented to James P. Strain from John Kirkpatrick (nephew to Gen. Custer) that was in a truck of Custer's personal possessions. Saddle comes with signed affidavit (Roy D. Kirkpatrick) who was a nephew of John, a signed copy of General Custer's thoroughbreds, which illustrated the saddle (illustrated #1), plus information and copies of family records, (Kirkpatrick and strain). CONDITION: Some roughness shrinkage loss of hide cover (bottom edge of saddle) and leather strapping.
