St. Augustine, FL, USALive Auction
Description: This is a Rare Late 1800’s “Chassepot” Yataghan Sword Bayonet, French? These popular bayonets are very collectable. This piece has the brass cross guard and handle. There are no longer any visible engravings or dates on this piece as it was unearthed in St Augustine Florida, and is in relic form. Aside from the normal Yataghan Re-curved blade, the blade is also slightly bent, which means it was under extreme heat or pressure, without breaking. The blade has pitting and wear, as to be expected of a relic. The brass handle as well shows wear markings and use. The over length of this piece is approximately 27-1/8”. This is a wonderful collectors piece for display. Please view the photos, or in person carefully to determine the age, condition, and quality of this lot.
