Description: Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Toby Pitcher, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly Jersey City, NJ, mid 19th century, squat molded pitcher with cobalt-decorated man's face below rim in the form of a tricorn hat. Molded hound-form handle, brushed with cobalt. Extremely rare form in salt-glazed stoneware. Handle reattached and restored where it meets the pitcher. Rim chips. Lines around base. Three base chips. H ( to top of handle) 6".
