More About this Item

Description: serial #496774, 44 WCF, 20" round barrel with full magazine and a bright minty bore. This is a very unusual carbine as it was built on a case-hardened frame. The condition of this carbine is wonderful. The barrel and magazine retain about 70% evenly thinning original blue finish which is blending with a pleasing smooth brown patina. The action retains about 75% original color case-hardened finish which is very vivid on top of action along dustcover rail and on rear sections of action. The balance is lightly flaked and beginning to blend with a pleasing smooth brown patina. The loading gate retains 95% bright original fire blue finish. The plain walnut stocks rate excellent with almost all of their original finish and with very few light handling marks. Carbine is equipped with standard carbine sights. Factory records confirm that this was indeed a 44 WCF carbine, there is no mention as to the finish on the action - it is absolutely right as rain. The gun was received on September 13, 1895 and shipped October 2nd of the same year. A very rare and highly desirable color case-hardened 1873 saddle gun. (15799-3) {ANTIQUE}
