Description: REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
Descent from the Cross: Second Plate.

Etching and engraving, 1633. 530x406 mm; 21x16 inches. Biörklund's third state (of 5); Usticke's second state (of 5), with the address of Uylenburgh lower margin; White and Boon's third state (of 5). A very good, dark impression of this large etching, with strong contrasts and the details on the figural group centered around the cross distinct.

Issued by the Amsterdam publisher Julius Danckers around 1685, after he had acquired the plate from Hendrick van Uylenburgh, the uncle of Saskia van Uylenburgh, Rembrandt's wife. Bartsch 81; Biörklund 33-C; Hollstein (White and Boon) 81.
