Lot 104: RIAA Gold Record Award Presented to Elvis Presley for 45 RPM Single "My Way"

This framed RIAA Certified Gold Sales Award was "Presented to Elvis Presley to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the RCA Records Single Record 'My Way'" by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). RIAA was created in 1958 to honor artists and certify record sales. Elvis began singing the Paul Anka song "My Way" in January of 1973 during his "Aloha from Hawaii" televised performance. Several weeks after his death in October 1977, Elvis' live recording of "My Way" was released and achieved a higher position on the Billboard charts than Frank Sinatra's rendition. "My Way" was certified gold by the RIAA on January 13, 1978. This framed display features a gold-colored record above a gold-colored plaque, both mounted against a black backing with gold frame, and measures 17 by 13 inches (43.8 x 33.02 cm). The framed award is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
