Richard AVEDON (American, 1923 - 2004) Self-portrait. collage on card 9 3/4 x 7 3/8 inches (247 x 187 mm) signed Britton, p. 246 One of the greatest American photographers, Avedon was chief photographer for Harper's Bazaar at 23 and was a lead photographer for Vogue for many years. His books include Observations, a 1959 collaboration with Truman Capote, Portraits 1947-1977 and In the American West, 1985.
