10. Rick Rack Secret Agent historic collection of (20+) panels and over 50 sketches, acetates and cutouts from the first animated series ever created specifically for TV. (Telecomics/NBC, 1950s) Collection of (20+) vintage original finished frames by legendary animators Miles Pike of Disney’s Bambi and Fantasia and Academy Award-winner Pete Burness accomplished in pencil, ink and gouache on watercolor leafs ranging in size from 4 x 4 in. to 11 x 9.5 in. Telecomics, Inc. was first formed in 1942 by Disney animators Dick Moores and Jack Boyd. Telecomics’ 3-minute cartoons did not use cel animation but a new “stop-and-go technique” consisting of comic-strip style drawings filmed sequentially, with an occasional stop motion animated effect utilizing cutouts. The syndicated series was distributed by Vallee Video, owned by singer Rudy Vallee. Early broadcasts have been lost. In 1950, Telecomics was commissioned by NBC Television to create the first animated series developed directly for TV, NBC Comics. Rick Rack Secret Agent was a segment of the landmark program. Also includes (50+) pencil prelim sketches, acetate layovers, cut out figures for animation and more. A rare artifact from the birth of TV animation. In vintage very good to fine condition. $600 - $800
