[Belknap, 167; Walker Art Center, 203]

Condition Report: Belknap calls for a plate size of 20 x 16 in.

The sheet measures 34 7/8 in. on the left vertical edge and 34 5/8 in at the right vertical edge and 26 1/8 at the top horizontal edge and 26 at the bottom horizontal edge. The sheet appears to have been slightly trimmed. Belknap calls for a sheet size of 35 x 26 in.

The sheet is slightly toned, the colors slightly attenuated. With intermittent faint gray staining around the plate edge corresponding with where the mat has come into contact with the sheet. The sheet is slightly rippled. With time staining and occasional foxing in the margins, as well as a approx 1/4 area of brown staining near the bottom horizontal edge left of center. With an approx 9 inch curving soft handling crease through the main black mass at bottom left extending into the orange. With an approx 1 1/4 inch inconsistency in the black ink at center left with no attendant ink loss. With another area of inconsistency in the black ink at upper center. Verso, there are scattered fox marks concentrated in the lower margin but a few in the area of the plate verso. They do not appear to show through to the front. Hinged to the support verso with white paper tape in three places along the top edge.
