first edition, coloured by hand, 3 volumes, folio (610 x 435mm.), plain lithographed portrait, 2 (of 3) hand-coloured lithographed titles and 120 hand-coloured lithographed plates by louis haghe after david roberts and mounted on card, with the leaves "Idumea" (bound in volume 1) and "Bethlehem" (bound in volume 2), contemporary red morocco gilt by Westleys and Clark, gilt edges, lacking title to vol.3, map and one printed preliminary leaf (Description of vignettes to vol.II and III), some plates spotted, some lightly or with an odd spot, occasionally heavy, one text leaf in vol.2 and the portrait dampstained, covers slightly rubbed and somewhat marked
