Description: 2nd century AD. A shallow terracotta oil lamp with round discus, volute-scrolls to the nozzle with crescentic outer edge; discus with zigzag border, low-relief image of a hound leaping onto the back of a running boar. Cf. Bémont, C. Lampes en Terre Cuites, Paris, 2007, item IT7 for type. 79 grams, 93mm (3 3/4"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s.

Condition Report: Very fine condition, usage wear.
