Description: 1st-2nd century AD. An iron strigil with right-angle curved C-section blade, narrow handle with leaf-shaped finial fixed to the rear of the blade. See Roach Smith, C. The Antiquities of Richborough, Reculver and Lymne in Kent, London, 1850, p.203-4 for discussion of the type. 82 grams, 25cm (10"). From an important Spanish collection; accompanied by a copy of the Spanish export permit.
