Description: 2nd-3rd century AD. A matched pair of gold earrings, each comprising a tongue-shaped plaque with beaded wire border and later green enamel panel, hollow transverse cylinder below with wire and iridescent glass bead dangle, frame of coiled loops, hook to the reverse. See Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 32a for type. 5.17 grams total, 42-44mm (1 3/4"). From a Harley Street private collection of jewellery, formed over 25 years. [2]
