Description: 2nd-3rd century AD. A matched pair of gold earrings, each an openwork plaque of radiating ivy-leaf motifs around a twisted wire frame and horizontal emerald(?) bead, transverse ribbed bar below supporting three dangles with glass beads, hook to the reverse. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 50a for type. 8.11 grams total, 54mm (2 1/4"). From a Harley Street private collection of jewellery, formed over 25 years.
