Description: 1st century BC-2nd century AD. A lentoid-section lozengiform iron blade with sturdy neck, expanding closed socket with single hole for an attachment stud. Cf. Feug?re, M. Weapons of the Romans, Stroud, 2002, item 178. 345 grams, 33cm (13"). Property of a London businessman, from his grandfather's collection formed after World War II; thence by descent 1972.

Condition Report: Very fine condition, professionally cleaned and conserved.
