Description: 1st century BC-1st century AD. A round-section silver rod formed into a ring of undulating profile, one coiled finial, the other a ribbed collar and serpent's head. Cf. Marshall, F.H. Catalogue of the Finger Rings, Greek, Etruscan and Roman, in the Department of Antiquities, British Museum, London, 1907, item 244 for type. 4.81 grams, 27mm overall, 22.60mm internal diameter (approximate size British Z+1 1/2, USA 13 1/4, Europe 31.0, Japan 29) (1"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s.
