Description: 13 July 1835 COBRE. 5 Shares of £40. black on rose paper. No 1181-85. A rare piece from an early British copper-mining venture in the Spanish colony of Cuba. More successful than most European ventures in Latin America, since this has dividend stamps on the reverse, for each year to 1865. Slight edge-damage, and many ink marks on the face. The oldest Cuban share we know of (with perhaps the exception of the 18th century Spanish trading company to Cuba). Rarity 10.
