SAMUEL FINLEY MORSE BADGER (American, 1873-1919) PORTRAIT OF THE TUGBOAT "GEORGES CREEK". Outstanding oil on canvas ship portrait shows the black hulled red and green deck tug sailing right to left having two masts and central stack. The name is emblazoned on the bow and three men are seen aboard. The side having "B.S.W. Co." and flying the company white flag "B". Signed lower left "SFM Badger Charlestown, Mass.". Housed in an outstanding gesso decorated gilt replacement frame. PROVENANCE: Rankin Estate, Annapolis, Maryland. Purchased from Marine Arts Gallery, Salem, Massachusetts, 1996. SIZE: 22" x 36". CONDITION: Very good, relined. 9-29653 HP
