The Wonders of the Yosemite Valley and of California.
With 10 mounted albumen prints credited to John Payson Soule, the images measuring approximately 3 1/2x3 1/4 inches (8.9x8.3 cm.), and the reverse, with red printed captions and red rules; also with 3 wood-engravings. Tall 4to, original plum gilt-decorated cloth, sunned and corners bumped; with the original tissue guards; contents clean; all edges gilt. FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY KNEELAND AND WITH A LENGTHY INSCRIPTION.
Boston: Alexander Moore, 1871
Notes: The photographs are credited to Soule, but it is now thought that he purchased the negatives from a California photographer, possibly Edweard Muybridge, to whose work these photographs have a strong affinity. NYPL Checklist, 233.
