Cal. 250-3000. S# 326365. Bbl. 22". Left flat of receiver is marked, "To Rudy/With warmest personal regards of/our store organization/Elmer French, Manager/Sears, Robuck & Co./Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia/May-29-1933". Rifle reputed to have been presented to entertainer Rudy Valee. Letter dated 5/Sept/2010 from Dalton Franklin Jr. states that his uncle was given rifle by hunting companion Rudy Valee. Savage Arms Corporation factory letter confirms configuration of rifle & shows date shipped as September 20, 1929. Marbles tang sight, filler in rear sight dovetail with Sheard replacement front sight. CONDITION: 70% original blue becoming dull & blending with areas of patina. Lever has 60% case colors fading to patina. Stock has wood removed under Marbles tang sight. Good checkering. Original finish with spots of wear & light handling marks. Hairline crack left of lower tang. Sound mechanics. Good bore. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Lyman receiver sight. Original front & rear sights contained in Marbles tang sight box. Letters described above & copy of newspaper article discussing Rudy Valee's connection to Maine Stein song. (11-1422/DS). CURIO. $500-1000.
