BELLE CORRESPONDANCE DU POETE ET ERUDIT. 20 novembre 1805, il lui adresse " le portrait de Bettinelli [portrait gravé joint] du tems qu'il manioit la lyre de Virgile, et meritoit par là les bontez du Virgile françois de l'auteur de la Henriade. Voilà aussi les vers, qu'il vient de consacrer à la nation triomphante "… Le général MIOLLIS, " notre mecene ", a réveillé sa lyre poétique éteinte. " La lyre de Virgile est à present dans les mains de l'Abbé DELILLE "… 26 novembre, remerciant de l'envoi d'arbres d'Andes ou Pietolo, " parmi lesquels il y a surement quelque rameaux du chêne fameux chanté par Angiolo di Costanzo "… 22 janvier 1806, faisant hommage d'un sonnet : " Mais pourquoi me renvoïer les dialogues, qui peuvent vous divertir dans quelques momens de repos, ou vous endormir dans ceux de l'ennui, qui n'epargnent pas même les guerriers les plus actifs. Ne fût-ce que par la singularité d'un jesuite, qui parle d'amour et non pas de l'amour de Dieu Boileau ne m'accuseroit pas de méconnoitre celui-ci, et se scandaliseroit de me voir confident et ami de l'autre "… 25 avril : on parle toujours des occupations militaires du général, et Bettinelli a pensé à lui à l'occasion de " quelque sonnet, que la gloire de la France m'a inspiré, et que j'aurois voulu soumettre à votre goût si rare dans votre nation pour notre poesie "… Il recopie pour lui le sonnet qui a fait parler Milan, et par lequel il prend congé des Muses… 7 mai, au général VERDIER, faisant des compliments sur les vers de Mme Verdier, et envoyant un sonnet " inspiré par la reconnoissance, et par la sensibilité, que l'idille a excitée avec leur touchante expression de votre cœur excellent "… 15 novembre : " Ce seroit vous importuner de vous questionner sur Mr votre frere, et mon éloge de Petrarque, sur Made Verdier, et mon pauvre sonnet &c. L'inexactitude de notre commerce me fait couper mon épanchement, et mes complimens sur votre promotion "… ON JOINT un manuscrit de 2 poèmes de Bettinelli dédié à Campredon, et 7 poèmes imprimés.

SMALL ITEMS purchased at auction and not collected after the sale will be transported to the PIASA offices and kept free of charge for a fortnight.

At the fall of the hammer the title of property shall be transferred to the purchaser, who assumes immediate responsibility for insurance. Uncollected property will be stored at the buyer's risk and expense.
