Description: 7th-8th century AD. A flat-section gold hoop with beaded wire borders and herringbone wire band; discoid bezel with filigree collar, inset mammiform glass cabochon. Cf. Oman, C.C. British Rings 800-1914 London, 1974, plate 12(A) for type. 7.85 grams, 29mm overall, 18.37mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q, USA 8, Europe 17.59, Japan 17) (1 1/4"). From an old Suffolk collection; formed 1990-2000. Accompanied by a positive X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate.
