Description: (HARVARD) Langdell, Christopher Columbus (1826-1906). American lawyer and educator, b. New Boston, N.H. Practiced law, New York City (1854-70). Professor of law, Harvard Law School (1870-1900) and dean (1870-95); introduced (1870) the case method of teaching law, now generally used in the U.S. Author of Selection of Cases on the Law of Contracts (1871), Selection of Cases on Sales of Personal Property (1872), Cases of Equity Pleading (1875). ORIGINAL etching, pencil signed by the artist OTTO J. SCHNEIDER (1875-1946) member Chicago Soc. of Etchers. His work is in many collections including: Art Institute of Chicago, Toledo Art Museum. 17-1/4 x 13-3/4 plus margins. VG.
