Description: SCULPTURE FEMININE BARI, SOUDAN Statue longiligne au visage naturaliste, nez busqué et bouche horizontale proéminenet et entrouverte.
Un long torse cylindrique reposant sur des longues jambes aux volumes épannelés, les bras ballants.
Belle patine naturelle.

Les Bari, une tribu nilotique d''environ 35 000 membres vivent dans la région du Bahr-el-Ghazal au sud soudan, non loin des Bongo.
Leur statuaire, fort rare, se caractérise par un style aux formes simplifiées avec une prépondérence de lignes verticales: un tronc étiré repose sur de longues jambes en colonnes (comme la pièce que nous présentons ici) , les bras pendants collés au corps, la tête stylisée est allongée et s''achève en pointe. Citons deux études sur ce style notamment celles de Ladislas Holy en 1967 ainsi que celle de Gohr et Keymer en 1990.1
Les quelques informations sur leurs usages sont divergentes: il s''agirait soit de portraits d''ancêtres, soit des statues pour faire tomber la pluie ou des fétiches pour la fertilité.
Ces pièces étaient protectrices et étaient placées sur un autel ou étaient éventuellement pendue.

La vaste majorité des statues furent récoltées au XIXe siècle, se trouve dans les musées d''ethnographie de Vienne, Berlin, Stuttgart, St Petesbourg et Paris.
La plus ancienne récolte est un groupe de dix statues provenant du fond du Musée de l''homme et actuellement au Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac, récoltées en 1853 par Henri Laporte, consul de France au Caire, celle du Musée de Vienne, qui fut donnée par Hansal et Buchta en 1882 et celle du Musée de Berlin par Junker en 1878.
Citons plus récemment l''apparition sur le marché d''un couple de statues provenant de la collection Magnelli en 1996 ainsi que celle présentée par la Galerie Monbrison en 2002.2

Taxes and VAT: In addition of the lot's hammer price, the buyer must pay the different stages of following costs and fees/taxes:
1) Lots from the EU :
• From 1 to 150 000 euros: 25% + current VAT.
• From 150 001 to 1 200 000 euros: 20% + current VAT.
• Over 1 200 001 euros: 12% + current VAT.
2) Lots from outside the EU: (identified by an ¤ on the website).In addition to the commissions and taxes indicated above, an additional import fees will be charged (5,5% of the hammer price, 20% for jewelry and watches, motorcars, wines and spirits and multiples).
3) VAT on commissions and import fees can be retroceded to the purchaser on presentation of written proof of exportation outside the EU. An EU purchaser who will submit his intra-community VAT number and a proof of shipment of his purchase to his EU country home address will be refunded of VAT on buyer's premium. The payment of the lot will be made cash, for the whole of the price, costs and taxes, even when an export licence is required. The purchaser will be authorized to pay by the following means:
