Description: SERGEI SAKHAROV (1906-1969) MOSCOW. Circa 1935.
39 1/4x27 1/4 inches, 99 3/4x69 1/4 cm. Intourist, USSR.
Condition A- / B+: minor repaired tears, creases and restoration in margins, text and image.
A wooden mausoleum was constructed to house Lenin's body and was open to the Russian public six days after his death in 1927. The current marble, porphyry, granite, and labradorite mausoleum was opened in 1930. The red star, seen here atop the Spasskaya Tower, was placed there in 1935. Intourist pl. 16.
