Description: A set of Egyptian wood panel depicting Isis and Nephthys, Late Period, c. 664 – 332 BC, together forming the door for a shabti box, the sister goddesses are both wearing tight-fitting gowns with broad collars and bracelets, their respective symbol atop their heads. The facing one another with wings outstretched, a gold sign between them and each with an Eye of Horus sign above. The panel were originally fitted together with knob still in place. 17 in x 20.5 in 43.1 x 52 cm). Much remaining pigment and a beautiful example of ancient Egyptian painting. Ex New Jersey estate.
