Description: Signature of Bomber Command Victoria Cross winner FLIGHT LIEUTENANT R.A.B. ROD LEAROYD award gazetted 20 August 1940 during the height of the Battle of Britain.  Note: The Battle Over Britain by historian Francis K. Mason first published 1969, revised 1990 is regarded as the finest book written on the Battle of Britain. Under Appendix G (Page 505) Mason acknowledged the part winners of both the Victoria Cross and George Cross played in what has become known as the Battle of Britain. Though not awarded the Clasp Wg Cdr Learoyd was operationally involved in the Battle winning his VC on a bombing mission to the Dortmund Ems canal where invasion barges were being assembled.       Good condition. Premium: The Purchaser shall pay the Hammer Price together with a premium of 18% of this Price. An 18% premium will be payable by Purchasers outside the European Union (EU).
