Description: One late 18th c. and two 19th century palm leaf manuscript books in Sinhalese. All in wooden boards bound by string. Boards measuring between approx. 17" and 19" in length, and 2.5" in width. The earlier manuscript is bound in plain wooden boards, housed in a box with an old Christie's sticker from 1976 and noting the MS as A.D. 1778. The other two are 19th c., similarly bound, but in more ornate boards with one having hand-painted figures (inside) and floral patterns (outside.) All with broken strings and light wear, else Very Good. Unusual and scarce items. The contents are likely theological in nature (Buddhism.) Please refer to photos.
