Description: serial #11509, .50 cal percussion, 21 1/2" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a very nice Smith Civil War carbine. The barrel retains about 92% original blue with light fading to brown, there are four small dings on the underside of the barrel near the muzzle. The frame, barrel support and hammer retain about 95% original color case-hardening with some very light brown flaking. The triggerguard retains a similar amount of vibrant pale blue while the action spring is a nice pale fire temper blue. The straight grip walnut buttstock and forearm rate excellent with nearly all their original varnish and only very minor handling marks, there are two crisp left-side cartouches. The barrel and frame are numbered alike. A beautiful example overall that would be very difficult to upgrade. (35528-146) {ANTIQUE}
