Description: 1 January 1878 KJOBENHAVN. Aktie 1000 Kroner. green, black. No 84.St.Croix was in the Danish West Indies (now the U.S. Virgin Islands), and had an important sugar industry. This company grew sugar on the la Grange estate. The Danish state took 50% of the shares, and private investors, including sugar-factories in Copenhagen took the other 50% (and bougth most of the harvest). Production continued after the sale of the islands to the USA in 1917, and reached a peak in the early 1920s, although then selling to the USA. Production ended in the 1960s.
