Book Details: This set is a scarce collection of public and private papers and correspondence of the founding father and fifth President of the United States James Monroe.
Condition / Notes: This is a scarce limited edition of this work, hand-numbered 457 of 750 copies produced prior to each title page. The antique volumes have been rebound in library half-cloth with marbled paper covers and stamped gilt lettering on the spines. There is light to moderate rubbing concentrated at the edges. The bindings are solid.

The text block is adorned with a gilt top edge and deckled bottom and fore edges. A Buffalo Public Library bookplate is affixed to each front pastedown. The first volume contains a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of Monroe. The title pages show library perforated stamps. The pages show mild age toning and occasional very light marginal smudging.
