Description: Neolithic, 4th-2nd millennium BC. A very finely knapped bifacial knife with integral handle and hilt, the blade of tapered leaf form with tiny loss at tip, narrowing to the grip and flaring to the thick 'pommel'; in a brown-grey mottled flint with small area of white cortex to handle; adhesive from an old label to one side; with an old newspaper clipping illustrating a similar piece. See Glob, P. V., Danske Oldsager II, Yngre Stenalder, Copenhagen, 1952, no.508 for a similar example. 62 grams, 14cm (5 1/2"). Property of a West London gentleman; acquired on the London art market before 1995; formerly in a Scandinavian collection before 1930. [No Reserve]
