CARVED IVORY AND ROOTWOOD OKIMONO OF A FARMER
the farmer shown seated on a gnarled tree trunk taking a break from work with his hoe and axe put aside, smoking a pipe while looking with a cheerful expression towards the opening of the trunk from which a monkey emerges, the farmer's ivory implements beside him, the base with a mother-of-pearl rectangular inlay, the okimono supported on a pierced rectangular wood stand
- Good overall condition with some thin age cracks to the ivory and to the wood
- The ivory ax is broken and restuck
- There is a chip to the edge of the farmer's robe
