Description: [BALLET] Suzanne Farrell (b. 1945) is an eminent 20th-century ballerina and the founder of the Suzanne Farrell Ballet at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Signed, inscribed 10x8 in. photo. Photographer is Steven Carras, a noted ballet photographer who danced for 14 years with the New York City Ballet, the company's co-founders George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein took early serious note of Caras' natural talent in photography. Quick to recognize his affinity with the camera, New York City Ballet granted him privileged access to photograph all aspects of their activities, readily making use of the vibrant photographs he immediately began to produce. Forced to choose between the two, he would dance his last performance with the New York City Ballet in 1983, devoting his time thereafter exclusively to photography. Clearly his decision has paid off. Today Steven Caras is an internationally acclaimed photographer and published author who has amassed a thirty-five year body of work considered to be one of the most valuable photographic archives in the history of dance. Fine.
