Description: Swedfurn A Rare Swedish Living Pod, Circa Early-1970S upper and lower section resembling an open mouth, the interior fitted with radio, speakers, adjustable ceiling lamps and button upholstered seat and arm rests, the polyethelene shell jersey- covered in orange/ red textured fabric, on bracket feet E800-1200 A major influence on the design of this pod can be found in the revolutionary exhibition at New York's 'Museum of Modern Art' titled Itaiy: The New Domestic Landscape' in 1972 The exhibition featured a series of highly conceptual experimental living environments that challenged the rigid conventions of domestic life. This living system was produced in Sweden in relatively small numbers during the early years of the 1970s. see illustration
