Description: 25 September 1926 TAISHO. 1 Share Cert. of 50 Yen. brown, pink, black. The Taisha Miyajima Railway proposed to build a 92km line from Dentetsu Izumo-shi Station (Ichibata Light Railway) southwards to Hiroshima. The 19km line to Izumo Susa opened in 1932, and the planned extension was formally abandoned in 1938. The line closed in 1965 as a result of flood damage. The vignette in the lower right corner shows the Itsukushima Shrine, a Shinto shrine on the island of Itsukushima (popularly known as Miyajima), best known for its "floating" tori gate. the vignette in the upper left corner depicts part of the Izumo-taisha shrine which is one of the most important and oldest Shinto shrines in Japan, located in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture.
