TANFANI - a jewelled silver gilt ciborium and cover
the ovoid bowl overlayed with pierced scalloped panels with alternating designs of fruiting vines or foliate details, the outer borders formed with collet set colourless stones, with opposing panels of cabochon and pear shaped stones, the pull off domed cover with central crown with cross final, the cover with chased foliate designs and gem set cartouches, the whole raised on a hexagonal gem set stem with compressed baluster pearl set knop; the lobed spreading foot with graduated borders of colourless gems and with finely chased fruiting vine and acanthus decoration with armorial and gem set panels, contained in original fitted gilt tooled case
